Our Mission

A Midwestern Review is DePauw University's undergraduate literary magazine dedicated to publishing DePauw students’ prose, poetry, and art. Founded in 1988, we strive to feature the strongest works attending DePauw, and our publication and website are produced entirely by students.

We aim to create a community of creative writers, written and spoken word poets, and studio art artists and photographers dedicated to their craft and ultimately give them a platform to promote their work for future endeavors in these fields and beyond.

Each semester, we encourage all students' submission for consideration for publication in our semesterly issues. We collect student submissions and meet in genre-specific committees to discuss and evaluate each one. All submissions are blind--we read each one with no author name attached

We also strive to support, shape, and otherwise engage with DePauw's artistic community through a series of public readings, faculty panels, open-mics, and other events intended to showcase the talent contained within our pages.

If you like what you see, contact us at midwesternreview@depauw.edu. We love to hear from people who love what we love--literature, art, culture--because what else matters?
